Larval Abundance Report

The Abundance Report under Larval Reporting allows you to create a range of reports, including graphs and the ability to download subsets of data into excel.

The Abundance Report allows users to filter data by choosing the desired Local government Areas (LGAs) or Transects, date ranges and trap locations. This is a step by step process and is described below.

To get started, select the “Report” menu, scroll down to the Larval Reporting sub-heading and click Abundance Report (please note there are two Abundance Report headings – ensure you select the one under the Larval Reporting sub-heading).

You will be taken to the first of a series of fields that allow you to narrow down the subset of data you may be interested in. The first field includes all the Local Government Areas that you have access to. Multiple LGA’s can be selected by holding down the SHIFT key and selecting the first and last LGA if they are in consecutive order. Alternatively, you can hold the Ctrl key to select multiple LGA’s that are not in consecutive order. In this instance, Ballarat, Horsham and Moira have been selected, so only data from these three Local Governments will be presented in the report.

Please note: Only Local Governments within Contiguous Local Authority Groups (CLAG’s) are able to select multiple LGA’s from within the list. If you are not part of a CLAG, the only option in this list will be your current LGA.

Selecting the Local Government Areas to generate a report

In most cases, this list will only include the LGA you currently work within. Once you have chosen your Local Government Area/s, click on the blue “Select” button to confirm your selection and move to the next field.

Select the Start and End dates you wish to be included in your report by typing it in DD/MM/YYYY format or clicking the calendarĀ Capture4 icon and finding your dates.

The LGAs that will be included in the report are listed above the date boxes.

The Start and End dates to generate the report

All sites that have larval records within the selected LGAs and date range are displayed in the “Site” list. Please note the Start and End date displayed may differ slightly to the date range you requested as they will be indicative of the range in which mosquito larvae were recorded.

Choose the sites you wish to be included in the report. Once again, multiple sites can be selected by holding down the SHIFT key or Ctrl key.

Exporting Data and Images

To the top right of the graph are two functions available to the user to save their reports:

  • Save as Image buttonSaves the current graph as a .png file. The graph cannot be edited from this image, but you can produce multiple images from your report in the web form using the toggles.
  • Download Site XLSX buttonAllows you to save the current data set behind the figure based on each field site within an Excel spreadsheet. Each site will be loaded into a separate sheet within an Excel workbook and each site can be examined in detail by clicking on each sheet at the bottom of the Excel table. This data can be saved and edited as per any normal excel spreadsheet.
